A total of 87 wind farms are proposed off the coast of Maughold

People have again been invited to have their say about plans to create a wind farm off the Manx coast.

A consultation on the proposed Mooir Vannin project, which would be located between six and 12 nautical miles (11.1 to 22.2km) off Maughold, closes at midnight.

The development by energy firm Orsted - which would be the first of its kind for the Isle of Man - would see the installation of 87 turbines.

A government spokeswoman said the scheme could "shape the Isle of Man's future energy strategy and marine environment".

Experts' panel

She invited supporters and opponents of the proposed scheme to engage in the consultation, as well as to ask questions or raise concerns.

"Your feedback is important and will be considered as part of the examination process," she added.

The firm's application was officially accepted in August by the Council of Ministers under the Marine Infrastructure Management Act 2016.

Feedback from the consultation will be considered by an independent panel of experts.

That body, which has experience in signing off on major infrastructure applications, will then make a recommendation on whether the project should be allowed to progress.
